On Vista - I've used Sidebar's Properties to disable it, shut the Sidebar down, and even gone into Control Panel and disabled it in the Startup tab - but the damn thing keeps opening up when I restart the computer - and it takes forever to load.

In reply to Studdy's post on October 1, My husband has the same Asus U81 notebook computer as I do and his "solution" sort of works for me: He said to close each individual gadget in the Sidebar, so that there's nothing for the Sidebar to load. This mostly works as a temporary solution but occasionally the empty Sidebar still appears and I have to right-click and close it.
