It deserve to be mentioned that the driver can simulate Xinput device as the original Xbox controller Work perfectly for Xinput windows game. The whole article is to use a PS3 controller as a PC controller. Buttons are not mapped right - which is weired.
Why doesn't the driver map the buttons to their equivalent? These are just numbers the driver reports. Easy to map internally. I also have Vista 64 and it has worked for over a year. I used a Sixaxis controller first, then I got a DS controller and it worked with the same driver. Why would you want this piece of junk on a pc? You'd be much better off using a controller and not a 2-gram toy wiimote copy piece of trash. All you need is this, a newer method, wired or wireless option here we go.

Note: Steam actually has native support for the DualShock 3, meaning you can simply plug the controller in and set it up through the Big Picture mode Controller settings menu.
However, Steam does not support the DualShock 3's gyro controls or more importantly! Follow this guide to get the PS3 controller working on PC with those buttons working, too. Download the software linked above, and start by installing the four Microsoft packages. If you're on a Windows 7 PC, you'll also need to install the Xbox controller driver.
